Who we are

Digital Skills for Ownership and Sustainability (DSOS) is a pioneering technology 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide in North Carolina. The organization aims to ensure that all individuals and communities have equitable access to the digital tools, resources, and skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world. By addressing both access to technology and digital literacy skills simultaneously, DSOS creates a comprehensive strategy that empowers underserved populations.

    FOUNDER

    In a digitally advancing world, our founder champions inclusivity in mental health resources. Believing that technology and telehealth must be accessible to all, they strive to connect innovative solutions with those in need. Their vision emphasizes that quality mental health support is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Through dedicated advocacy and the development of user-friendly platforms, our founder leads a movement to transform mental health care for diverse individuals.

  • Dr. Henry Beckwith

    Board Member

    As a clinical psychologist from Eastern North Carolina, he is committed to the mental health community. He acknowledges that a single provider will likely find it challenging to work with such a comprehensive, diverse community; therefore, he works closely with other like-minded professionals and utilizes a "team" approach to treat the whole "system". When working with children and adolescents, the family is the most powerful force in the child's life. Thus, Dr. Beckwith believes that the best means of serving a child is through their family and/or immediate caregivers.

    Treasurer

    Ms. Mitchell is committed to supporting Eastern North Carolina by joining the Digital Skills for Ownership and Sustainability initiative, working to advance and sustain digital literacy throughout North Carolina. She continues to serve the State of North Carolina as a certified Notary Public sworn, “to serve and protect.”
